  • Exit 5 Planned Project Development, Raymond
Business leaders in the Town of Raymond were brought together with the common goal of improving conditions for economic and business development in what they identified as the Exit 5 business corridor, where retail predominates, yet for which the potential exists to expand and create value, tax revenue and jobs. From the beginning, these business leaders identified the establishment of town sewer in the Exit 5 Development Area as the primary driver in the achievement of their vision. Their main objective, which will guide the planning that follows, is to illustrate to the community the importance of buidling a wastewater treatment facility within this existing business corridor. Message from the President

Thank you for the welcome and encouragement as I assume the role of President of the Greater Raymond Area Chamber of Commerce.

For those of you who don’t know me, I am the owner of Beneficial Bodyworks Massage Therapy and Wellness located in Raymond and I have been on the board for the past two years. After selling a co-owned New Hampshire and Maine based real estate title and closing company in 2002, I opened a wellness based business in Manchester. A few years later, realizing there was a local need for the services my business provided, I moved it to Raymond.

I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as President for the coming year, and excited about the opportunities the Chamber has to grow and better serve its’ members. I’d like to thank Arlene French for her dedication and leadership last year. I hope to build upon the many successes the Chamber saw under her excellent leadership.

I am very fortunate in that this year’s slate of officers and directors is made up of motivated, competent people with diverse backgrounds. With a mix of returning members and new additions the board will have both experience and new energy as we set out to meet our goals.

Increasing membership and member participation, integrating additional technology into our services, working to provide enhanced benefits to meet the needs of our members, and doing all we can do to support current and new businesses in this challenging economic environment, are just a few goals the board has for this year.

The work and rewards of the Chamber are not limited to the Board of Directors and office staff. The strength and success of this organization comes from individuals within our membership who volunteer their talents, time and expertise. This is an exciting time to be involved with the Chamber! In the coming week you will be receiving information regarding the various committees and their purposes. Please take a moment to review the list and see where you feel you can contribute. You are an integral part of this volunteer organization and your participation can make a difference to the business community and the towns we serve.

Business members and/or their employees can also share in the goodwill and excitement of the regular and special events sponsored by the Chamber. Networking and showcasing your business to fellow members and the public are advantages of membership. Your participation in annual events like the Community Expo, Annual Movie Night, and Business of the Year Program as well as your attendance at monthly meetings, workshops, and networking opportunities, are vital to keep the Chamber strong, viable, and a voice for local business.

I encourage you to make your voice heard this year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, suggestions and ideas. I hope you will join the board as we work to ensure this is a great area in which to live, work, play and invest.

Lynne Martin
President
